There are a number of reasons why a person might need a psychological assessment. It might be required by an employer, work, or school. A mental health provider like a psychiatrist might request it to clarify clinical issues. Or a person might just be interested in learning more about their personality.
Usually, these evaluations involve a clinical interview and psychological testing. Upon completion, a report of the findings with recommendations is sent to the referral source and/or the client.
In many cases, insurance carriers will cover these evaluations. Other times a third party such as an employer will cover the cost. However, others have to be paid out of pocket. This is especially true for court-referred cases.
