What’s the difference between a psychiatrist and a psychologist? Psychiatrists prescribe the pills, psychologists teach the skills.

When a person experiences emotional distress, he or she can probably benefit from individual psychotherapy sessions. Psychotherapy is not usually a long-term investment of time. Most people can be successfully treated in six sessions or less. Some cases do take longer though.

Most of the time, people can be treated without the need for medication. Also, we do not prescribe medication ourselves. We want you to feel better as soon as possible though, and if we think medication might help, we will refer you to someone who can prescribe the right medication.

We can provide treatment for the following difficulties:

  • Anxiety and anxiety-related difficulties
  • Depression and other mood difficulties
  • Substance abuse
  • Anger management
  • Major mental health conditions
  • Child and adolescent behavior difficulties
  • Attention Deficit disorder
  • Marital/couple’s issues
  • Divorce adjustment
  • Pain management
  • Disability adjustment
